Who regulates water operators in Arizona?

Certification levels / grades / classes
Each class is offered at Grades 1-4; Grade 1 is entry level and Grade 4 is highest.
Initial certification requirements
A Grade 1 applicant needs a high school diploma or GED, may sit without facility experience, must pass with 70 or higher, and then certify through ADEQ's portal. Higher grades have additional requirements.

ADEQ lists approved exam providers and directs successful candidates to its portal for initial certification or upgrades.
Renewal cycle
Arizona certifications are valid for three years and managed through the ADEQ Operator Certification Portal.
Continuing-education requirements
At least 30 Professional Development Hours per certification period, not per certificate. One CEU converts to 10 PDHs.
